Go away and turn left

Generally I lean left,on issues, and sometimes rather forcefully so. But the way they function, as obstructive entities instead of a constructive task force is just maddening.
Sometimes The United States isn't the most dangerous foe. It's just the most vulgarly visible one.
Sometimes all that jhola-panti is just talk.
And men who go to lectures on Foucault and Derrida and say things like "ye sab to hamare dada hain- Marx-bhai, Lenin-bhai"
...
That's just wrong.
Marx is not your bhai. You may think he wrote a lot of stuff that made a lot of sense, and that more people should adore him then do at present.
But he is not your bhai.

Comfort. I know...the conservatives in academia are so infuriating at times that it's a bit of a shock when the left wingers jump out and start being arseholes as well.

it smacks of betrayal.

you have a point. and too much of pretentious intellectual posturing and armchair activism is annoying. especially coming from people who lead fairly capitalist lifestyles otherwise.
no, seriously. despite theoretically seeing the validity of a socialist argument, it becomes so difficult to adhere to it in the way we live, even in the most minor things. don't you feel hypocritical? bourgeois exploiters that we all are, it is worth asking how far we are willing to change our own lifestyles before we wax eloquent on these topics.
stating the obvious, but well.
